So if you want a specific stat, be sure to look through all kinds of runes to check which will give you the best bang for your proverbial buck. There is only one kind of primary rune for each specific stat, as shown in the example there, with the rest being secondaries, with the exception of quintessences, which always provide huge boosts no matter which stat you buy. The real difference lies in primary and secondary runes, which have a pretty dramatic effect on what you end up choosing.įor example, take flat armor runes, in the case of these specific kinds of runes, Seals are the primaries, as such, for every flat armor Seal you purchase, you will gain +1.41 armor, whereas if you were to instead purchase a flat armor Mark or Glyph, you would only be gaining +0.91 armor and +0.7 armor respectively. There are very few differences to any of these, as you’d expect, only one type of rune can go into the associated slot, for example, you can’t put a glyph in a seal slot, you can’t put a quintessence in a mark slot, etc. Runes come in four different flavours, marks, glyphs, seals and quintessences. This of course means you do not want to be making mistakes, as each one will cost you more of the precious ip you could have been using to instead purchase a new champion. Unlike masteries, you’re not given a new point each level to put into whatever you please, you’re given a rune slot, the difference between a point and a slot is obvious, what is not so obvious is that in order to fill these slots, you have to actually use your hard-earned ip (Influence Points) in order to purchase the runes to fill them. Because unlike masteries, which you can chop and change effortlessly and have as many pages as you desire at the press of a button, runes are different.
