I was reading about some other Star Wars things and someone mentioned Jedi Academy, and they said something about “With the resolution fix…” so I decided to look it up.

I returned it almost immediately, as I’ve gotten a lot more critical of such things over the years. The framerate felt off, probably partially because of the resolution making my mouse feel too off, and it was capped at 85. I have a 1920×1080 screen, but they didn’t have any options that would even fill up all the space. That’s all I really remember from playing it as a kid, so when it went on sale for Christmas on Steam, I decided to give it another shot since I was in a Star Wars mood with the new movie coming out recently.Īnd boy, was it ugly and awkward. You could create your own character, you got your lightsaber immediately, and the progression system was incredibly simple and easy to understand. This one I fell in love with, and was one of the few games I would play over and over, along with Mass Effect 1, Pokemon Emerald, and a couple others. So I played a few missions, got bored, and tried out Jedi Academy when we got it. I couldn’t get into Jedi Outcast much because for one, you don’t start out with a lightsaber and as a kid I really didn’t even pay attention to the story.

Luckily, one of the games was Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast and another was Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy. My uncle owned an Xbox, and he was (and still is) a big fan of Star Wars, so we usually had whatever the newest games were, whether they were good or not. I didn’t touch a Battlefront game until the PSP version launched (where I ended up playing many hours of it). It seems like most people grew up with Battlefront 2, at least many of the people I’ve talked to.
